Chester at Work - Guided Walk

This walk along the canal, led by Stewart Shuttleworth on behalf of Chester Civic Trust, will look at the remains of the industrial heritage in the area. It will explore how, with the building of the canal in the eighteenth century, a concentration of industries grew up alongside it and some of the earlier riverside industry migrated across. Now, some aspects of this industrial heritage have been regenerated into modern developments: the walk looks at corn mills, warehouses, remains of the lead works and hydraulic engineering. The industry will be discussed in the context of canal transport. Meet outside the Lock Keeper Pub, Canal Side, Frodsham Street for this 90-minute walk, which is fully accessible, with care along the towpath. Takes place 21st June at 14:30. This event is FREE.
