WHAT THE MEDIEVAL GUILDS DID FOR CHESTER, 24 JUNE AT 14:30
Chester`s Guilds still exist: a member, one of today’s Freemen of Chester, will lead this 90-minute walk to look at the influence Freemen, either individually or in a group, have had on Chester. In their heyday the Guilds were the movers and shakers of Chester and concerned with its structure and social life. Such things as speculative domestic building, fashionable transformation of existing buildings, and pub ownership were all the province of the Guilds and they played a role in horseracing, football and drama.
Meet at The Cross, outside St Peter’s Church, Watergate Street for this free 90-minute walk, which does include steps. Takes place 24 June at 14:30. This event is FREE.
