Discover how salt has driven the development of Cheshire from pre-history to the present day through open-pan salt production. The Lion Salt Works demonstrates the geology of salt, the processes of salt-making and the impact on the lives of the workers. It also explores the development of the industry, the trade and transport routes across the world and the impact on the environment. Come and explore the museum, the Butterfly Garden and Buddleia Collection and play area. We also have a coffee and cake café and shop selling unique gifts with a local connection.
